Reopening Campus

With the recent uptick in COVID cases across the country and in the state of Tennessee, SAS continues to carefully monitor the situation and federal, state, and CDC recommendations regarding in-person classes. In the event that we cannot start our year in-person, we are fully prepared to provide robust online courses.

Thank you for taking such a thoughtful, comprehensive approach to this situation. We all appreciate you and are looking forward to the new school year!

St. Andrew's-Sewanee School plans to resume our in-person community life in August when we welcome both new and returning students to campus. The community will follow specific health precautions which will be in accordance with local, state, and CDC requirements and recommendations. In the event that these bodies are not in agreement, SAS will abide by the most cautious of recommendations.

Our current plans are detailed below, but we anticipate that new and improving information, an evolving situation, and the constructive feedback of our community will necessitate changes as we begin to live into these plans. We will keep our community informed as plans evolve and look to our community for constructive solutions as issues may arise.

COVID-19 Mitigation Plans

Following our July 16 Town Hall meeting with parents, we revised these questions and responses to provide more information where requested.

Staying Informed of Your Child's Progress and Well-Being

We recognize that while limiting visitors on our campus this semester and preventing boarding students from traveling home is in the best interest of the physical health of our school community, it may cause additional anxiety for our parents. We are establishing protocols for boarding family visits. We will also develop virtual alternatives for Middle School Family Night and Family Weekend and offer and welcome requests for parent-teacher conferences by phone and/or Zoom. You can also continue to count on your child's advisors and house parents to be in contact on a regular basis and always available to you. We also plan to offer more opportunities for you to "tune in" for campus events.

The Future

St. Andrew's-Sewanee School will continue to monitor all available information closely and make any modifications to support both health and campus programming. Plans will be shared with the school community as available. We will begin the school year with the strictest protocols in place and will relax restrictions if and when circumstances make it possible to do so.
